In 2011, the Tennessee Master Gardeners provided over 134,260 volunteer hours of community gardening education, activities and projects. They have support and resources for 36 school gardens, $7,000 in college scholarships and over 20,400 pounds of produce to community food pantries. These Extension-trained and certified volunteers are Tennessean's resource for sound information and advise for all gardening, growing, and selecting plants in Tennessee.

To learn more about gardening from an Extension Master Gardene volunteer, locate your county Extension office and make contact. If there is not a program in your county ask for the program nearest to your area. Find A County Extension Office.

The Hamilton County Master Gardeners have a unique task of designing, building and hosting an educational display each year at the Hamilton County Fair… and every year it is different. What is consistent, is the fun and camaraderie the group has pulling together volunteer projects. Under the leadership of their county Extension Agent Tom Stebbins, the Master Gardener group works with community partners to further their goals and interests in gardening and environmental education.

Visit the Hamilton County Master Gardeners website for more information and activities in the Chattanooga area.
